Your Guide to November’s Major Game Releases

October went by fast, taking with it several major releases like The Evil Within 2 and Super Mario Odyssey, as well as Sony’s conference during Paris Games Week. November is going to be even more packed, because not only are there huge titles releasing all month, but there’s also the launch of the next Xbox console. Here are all the major games you can expect.

November 3:

November Game Releases

  • Call of Duty: WWII (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

It wouldn’t be fall without another Call of Duty. WWII was developed by Sledgehammer Games, and the developer aims to take the franchise back to its roots. Players will be able to battle their way across locations throughout Europe during World World II in classic Call of Duty fashion. What makes this game unique is the effort Sledgehammer put into making sure everything was as historically accurate as possible. Minus the zombies, of course.

November 7:

Xbox One X

  • Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (PS4)

Horizon Zero Dawn released back in February of this year, but we can’t seem to stop talking about its protagonist, Aloy. Well, now she returns on November 7th with a new mystery to unravel, one that will take her beyond the confines of the main game’s map. In The Frozen Wilds players will encounter new storylines, machines, and characters that is sure to expand the lore of Horizon.

  • Nioh (PC)

Like Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh also released in February for PS4, and the samurai, action-adventure game was well-received. The PC version that releases next week will be complete with all three DLCs that have been released for the game: “Dragon of the North”, “Defiant Honor” , and “Bloodshed’s End”.

  • Sonic Forces (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)

Sonic Forces is releasing across multiple consoles next week. Dr. Eggman is back on his nonsense and has taken over most of the world with the help of several villains. In order to stop him, Knuckles gathers some of his old friends in order to build a resistance. News recently broke that Sega would not be sending out review codes for the game, which admittedly has us raising an eyebrow.

  • Super Lucky’s Tale (Xbox One, PC)

Play as the endearing fox Lucky in this sequel to Lucky’s Tale. Lucky must help his sister recover the Book of Ages, while navigating a variety of challenging levels and puzzles that players of all ages will be able to enjoy.

It’s almost here. Microsoft has been consistently promoting the launch of its mid-generation console, the Xbox One X, since its full reveal at E3 2017. By now we’ve probably all seen the launch trailer that invites us to experience “true power” in 4K.  Right now, there are more than one-hundred games that have been updated for the Xbox One X, and there are more on the horizon like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Forza Motorsport 7. The console will be the most powerful one in the world when it launches, but will it be enough for us part with $500? Let us know if you’ll be picking up the X on November 7th.

November 10:

Game Releases

  • Mario Party: The Top 100 (3DS)

It’s been a busy year for our favorite plumber. 2017 has seen the release of Mario Kart, Mario + Rabbids Kindgom Battle, and Super Mario Odyssey. Now, the top 100 mini games in Mario Party return. As far as we’re concerned, it’s the ultimate celebration.

  • Doom (Nintendo Switch)

Doom on the Switch looks just as past-paced and full of action as it does on any other console or PC, so get ready to raise a little hell and shoot some demons.  The port for Doom on the Switch is being handled by developer Panic Button.

  • Need for Speed Payback (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

With so many installments in the Need for Speed franchise, Payback looks like it’s still finding a way to keep things fresh. We’ll play as a former streetcar racer named Tyler Morgan, who was wronged and forced into exile. Tyler must now rebuild his crew and bring down a corrupt organization known as The House. Fasten your seat belts. It’s time for payback.

  • L.A. Noire Remastered (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch)

Having one of the most popular action-detective games revamped for new generation consoles is a cause for great excitement. L.A. Noire was (and still is) one of a kind, and it’ll be worth picking up this classic when it releases with updated graphics and smoother gameplay.

Update: Nintendo has revealed the Switch version of this game will take up a massive 29GB worth of space.

  • Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Lego Marvel Superheroes is bringing together Marvel superheroes and villains from multiple eras, “along with signature LEGO humor.” Play as your favorite characters from the Marvel Universe and gear up for battle across several recognizable worlds.

  • RiME (Nintendo Switch)

RiME came out for Xbox One, PS4, and PC earlier this year, and was another great title to add to the indie puzzle genre. We play as a young boy who was shiprecked on a deserted island with no memory of how he got there. While exploring its many areas, with the aid of a fox, the boy uncovers the mystery of the island and his own past.

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)
It’s Skyrim. On the Switch. I’m not sure gifts get better than this. For anyone (me) who’s ever longed to take this massive world on the go (me again), then this isn’t to be missed. First impressions of the ported game from E3 also seemed to be favorable, and this is a great chance for long-time Nintendo fans to finally experience what we’ve all been raving about for years.
  • Star Wars Battlefront II (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

The next entry in the Battlefront series is making some noticeable improvements from the first game, most notably the addition of a single player story mode (thank you, John Boyega). A new narrative isn’t all that awaits us in Battlefront II, though. Star Cards have been completely rebuilt, and EA has created an epic 20 v 20 multiplayer mode called “Galactic Assault”.

  • The Inpatient (PSVR)

Supermassive Games, the developers that brought us Until Dawn (2015) are back with a new title exclusively for PS VR. The Inpatient is set in the same world as Until Dawn, in the Blackwood Sanatorium, to be exact, more than 60 years before Sam, Josh, and the rest of the gang stumbled upon it. The immersive experience will place you directly within the halls of the Sanatorium and you will have to find out who you are and why you’re there before it’s too late. Similar to Until Dawn, The Inpatient also makes use of the butterfly effect and your actions will have consequences.

  • Black Mirror (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

This has no relation to the TV show Black Mirror. Instead, developer THQ Nordic has given the Black Mirror point-and-click game from 2003 a modern face-lift. Set in 20th century Scotland, players will explore an old home and discover the secrets buried inside.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations Collection (Switch)

Classic survival horror is finding its way to the Nintendo Switch at the end of the month in a collection that contains Resident Evil: Revelations and Revelations 2. For players who want a physical copy of the collection, which is $40, only the first game will be in physical form. The second will come in the bundle with a download code. Or, you can purchase them both from the Nintendo eShop for $20.
