Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Available On iOS And Windows 10

Microsoft has announced that as of today, Xbox Cloud Gaming is available on all iOS devices and Windows 10 computers for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. The service is available in 22 countries around the world through your device’s web browser.

All you have to do is go to xbox.com/play on Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Safari on your PC or mobile device and log in to start playing. If you aren’t subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can sign up on the site as well. This is a big step for the company in their mission to make gaming accessible to as many people as possible around the world. As they say, they’re “bringing the Xbox experience directly to the devices you use most.”

Microsoft has also upgraded their Xbox Cloud Gaming servers to be powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware. This means that when streaming games, they’ll run as if they’re being played directly from an Xbox Series X console, bringing improved frame rates and faster load times, making the experience feel truly next-gen. The only caveat is that streaming will be capped at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS in order to provide the best streaming experience possible across devices, though this will be improved over time as well.

The company tried to get their Xbox Cloud Gaming service on iOS last year, but wasn’t able to due to Apple’s policies regarding their App Store. Near the end of the year, Microsoft confirmed that the service would be making its way to iOS in the Spring of 2021 through a browser-based solution. They achieved this goal, though it was only available to select people who were invited to try it out.

Now that the service is finally available to all members, Microsoft can focus on making it better with new features, as well as getting it onto other platforms as well. They haven’t been shy about their plans to bring Game Pass and their streaming service to Smart TVs with a dedicated app and streaming device, as well as integrating Xbox Cloud Gaming with consoles. Seeing these plans come to fruition is very exciting and presents a bright future for the Xbox ecosystem.
