The Marvel’s Avengers Beta is Taking Place in August
Crystal Dynamics has announced when the beta for their upcoming game, Marvel’s Avengers, will take place. There will be three separate weekend sessions for the beta. The first one will be from August 7-9 for Playstation 4 players who preordered the game. One week later from August 14-16, Xbox and PC players who preordered will get access to the game, and the PS4 beta will become open to all players. Then finally from August 21-23, the beta will be completely open across all platforms.
We’ll be getting a deep dive into the beta during the next War Table presentation, which is scheduled for July 29 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET. Full details about what will be available in the beta has not been revealed, but Creative Director Shaun Escayg did offer a few hints about what will be offered. Players will be able to experience content from the single-player campaign, co-op missions, hero progression, War Zones, and a new mission type called Drop Zones.
The first War Table presentation for Marvel’s Avengers took place a few weeks ago. It gave a better idea as to what the story will be about, revealing that MODOK is the villain of the game. A new single-player mission surrounding Thor was shown in which the team worked together to keep a Helicarrier from crashing into a city. This presentation also gave us our first look at co-op missions and the deep character customization that the game will offer players.
Following that presentation, it was announced that PS4 owners of Marvel’s Avengers would get a free upgrade to the PS5 version of the game when it releases. Xbox owners will also be getting a free upgrade since the game will take advantage of Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system for Xbox Series X.
We won’t have to wait too much longer to play the full game though, so we’ll see if the delay it received earlier this year will pay off. Marvel’s Avengers launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4.
