Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Releases In June

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released on June 11th. Developer Insomniac Games announced the game’s launch date this morning on the PlayStation Blog, alongside pre-order information and a new game synopsis.

”When the evil Dr. Nefarious uses a device that can access alternate dimensions to find a galaxy where he always wins, Ratchet and Clank are separated. As they try to reunite, they will meet a new Lombax resistance fighter, explore new and familiar locales (but with new dimensional twists!), and wield a whole new arsenal of out of this world weapons.”

There are two versions of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart available for pre-order now. The Standard Edition costs $69.99, causing it to join the list of Sony exclusives that cost this new increased price. As a bonus for preordering, you get the Pixelizer weapon as an early unlock and the Carbonox Armor from the PS2 game, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. Then there’s the Digital Deluxe Edition which costs $79.99 and gives you the same bonuses as the Standard Edition, as well as others, including a digital art book, a digital soundtrack, and stickers for the game’s Photo Mode.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has been one of the more exciting PS5 games to be announced. It made a big impression when it was first shown at the PS5 reveal event, and at Gamescom Opening Night Live where we got to see full gameplay. This was mostly due to the near instant dimension hopping that was displayed in both of the game’s appearances, something that’s only possible thanks to the PS5’s more powerful hardware. It’s why the game will only be coming to PS5 and not the PS4 as well, unlike other first-party titles. If previous games in the series are anything to go by, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be another fun and creative journey to go through later this year.
