Obsidian Entertainment Announces The Outer Worlds

After heavily teasing it would be unveiling its next game during The Game Awards, developer Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas)delivered on its promise and revealed The Outer Worlds, a first-person sci-fi RPG. Tagline: “Welcome to the future. Try not to break it.”

During the awards show, we were treated to a two-minute reveal trailer for The Outer Worlds, and though the game is futuristic and not post-apocalyptic like Fallout: New Vegas, it’s not hard to see that Obsidian has still taken a lot of inspiration from its Fallout days, in terms of environmental style/design and gameplay.

The description of the game, according to Obsidian states:

The Outer Worlds is a new single-player first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division. Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

The Outer Worlds will be available some time in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
