New Horizon Forbidden West State of Play Announced
Sony has announced that a new State of Play is happening on Thursday, and it’ll be focused entirely on Horizon Forbidden West. Set to run for about 20-minutes, the showcase will include 14-minutes of never before seen gameplay for the upcoming title. The show is at 2PM PT / 5PM ET, so it’s poised to round out the news day with a big splash.
Horizon Forbidden West was first announced at the PS5 reveal event in June last year with a planned 2021 release. Since then, both Sony and developer Guerilla Games have been quiet about the highly anticipated game, leading people to question whether or not the game has been delayed to 2022. After all, Sony’s other first-party title Gran Turismo 7 was originally supposed to come out this year, but has been delayed to next year after months of silence.
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has tried to reassure fans that the game is on track for release, saying that he’s “feeling pretty good” about the game just a few months ago. With all that in mind, as well as the amount of time the game’s been in development, it’s very possible that the game will be able to hit it’s 2021 release window. Things are always subject to change in the games industry though, so it won’t be too surprising if Forbidden West gets delayed so that the game can be as good as possible.
Will we see Aloy take to the skies atop one of the game’s animal machinations? Is there going to be a glimpse of the world map to show us the scale of the game? And will we get a solid release date? You can be sure we’ll have the answers to all of these questions very soon, and then brand new questions to take their place.
