Grand Theft Auto V Comes To Next-Gen In November

Determined to release on just about every platform that it can, Rockstar has announced that the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V will release later this year on November 11th.

Releasing on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the new version of GTA V will be “expanded and enhanced” with new features and more. The online mode, GTA Online will be released at the same time as a standalone game that’s free on PlayStation 5 for the first three months following its release. In the lead up to release, PlayStation players will receive $1 million of in-game money per month. GTA Online will also receive updates this summer that offer benefits to all players who get the next-gen version of the game.

Rockstar also teased something related to Grand Theft Auto III for the game’s 20th anniversary this year. All they would say is that they have more surprises to reveal, including something specific to GTA Online.

What these new additions to the game will be are anyone’s guess since Rockstar has been very tight-lipped in regards to the fine details ever since the remaster’s announcement at the PS5 reveal event. It’s not too much of a stretch to imagine an improved frame rate, graphical improvements such as higher resolutions, better textures, and potentially even ray-tracing coming to the game. Perhaps Rockstar will go the extra mile and improve character facial animations as well to bring the game up to the same standards as their latest game Red Dead Redemption II.

It’s known that Rockstar likes to do more than just the bare minimum with their remasters. Back in March, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two (Rockstar’s owner) participated in a conference that was transcribed by VGC, where he talked about the remasters that the company puts out. Talking specifically about Rockstar and the GTA V remaster, he expressed confidence in the team’s ability to make something great that’s more than just “a simple port.”

I’ve played through Grand Theft Auto V three times already, but a brand new version of the game would certainly get me to play through this classic title for a fourth time, so consider me excited.
