Destruction AllStars Delayed From PS5 Launch to February
Sony has announced that Destruction AllStars is being delayed to February 2021. The game was intended to be a launch title for the PS5 next month, but now players will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the car destruction game. It’s not all bad news, as the game will be available through PS Plus for the first two months of its release.
Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Director of Product Development, Pete Smith, explained the reasoning behind delaying the game. “Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world. We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?”
For those who already pre-ordered the game through the PlayStation Store, Playstation.com, or at physical retailers, you’ll be refunded the money you already paid.
Destruction AllStars was first announced at the PS5 reveal event in June, but has been very quiet since then. At the end of the PS5’s September event that announced the price and release date of the console, we got a quick snippet of gameplay. More recently, the game was briefly featured in the console’s UI reveal, but it again didn’t show much gameplay. According to the blog post, a new trailer will be coming next week alongside more details about the game.
While it sucks to see the game get delayed, the decision makes sense, especially given that we’ve seen very little of the game up to this point. Hopefully it can find great success amongst PS5 owners thanks to the new release date, as well as the added bonus of being a free PS Plus title for two months.
