3 Characters We Hope Return in The Walking Dead: The Final Season and 3 We Hope Don’t

Yesterday, Telltale Games released the second teaser for The Walking Dead: The Final SeasonClementine’s journey is officially coming to an end, whether that means she will finally find stability for herself and AJ in this apocalyptic world, or if we will laying one of our favorite video game heroines to rest. Over the course of The Walking Dead series many characters have come into Clementine’s life, some of whom are still out there with unknown locations. Here are three characters we hope to see again in The Final Season, and three we don’t.

THE GIVEN:

AJ

The Walking Dead

Let’s get the obvious out of the way right now. AJ is definitely in The Final Season.

Though A New Frontier ended with Clementine going to search for baby AJ, based on the two trailers we’ve seen of The Final Season, not only did she find him, but there has also been a significant time jump in the story. Now, AJ looks to be around seven or eight years old. He seems to be a quiet child, and Telltale has explained that he will be watching Clementine’s actions and learning from her every move.

HOPEFUL RETURNS:

1. Christa

The Walking Dead

Aside from Lee’s death, of course, Clementine’s separation from Christa in Season Two was a significant emotional beat for the series. When Christa goes in search of firewood, she is ambushed by bandits, and the intense moments of gameplay that follow end with their ultimate separation. While Clementine attempted to find her, a series of events made the search impossible. With several time jumps and location changes happening since their separation, a reunion seems even more unlikely, but anything can happen.

2. Molly

The Walking Dead

Though Molly was only around for the fourth episode, “Around Every Corner” in Season One, her impact was lasting. She saved Lee and Kenny from almost being eaten by walkers and demonstrated she’s a capable fighter who can do some questionable things with an ice climbing pick. As the episode progressed, her hardened exterior melted for a moment after it was revealed her little sister died. At the end of the episode, when Lee invites Molly to leave with them, she declines (though her expression tells a different story) and says she wants to be alone. A surprise return from Molly could have her help Clementine in the similar way she helped Lee in Season One.

3. Jesus

The Walking Dead

Paul “Jesus” Monroe came on the scene in A New Frontier, but he was around so little, his presence almost seemed like more of an afterthought at best. Unnecessary, at worst. After Richmond descends into chaos, Jesus comes back and helps Javier, Clementine, and Gabe fend off the walkers. Following the big battle, though, Jesus leaves just as quietly as he entered. There seems to be more Telltale can do with his character arc, and it’d be a shame if Jesus doesn’t make a return in some way, or if he isn’t mentioned at all in The Final Season.

BONUS:

Glenn!

The Walking Dead

Glenn peaced out in the very first episode of Season One, explaining he needed to search for his friends in Atlanta. He took Clementine’s second walkie-talkie, and there hasn’t been any mention of our favorite pizza delivery boy since then. It’s a long shot that we will ever see Glenn again, but it doesn’t hurt to keep our fingers crossed.
