Summer Game Fest Demo Event Announced for Xbox One

Later this month, Xbox One owners will be receiving a demo event as part of the ongoing Summer Game Fest. Announced by Geoff Keighley and Xbox, the event will run from Tuesday, July 21 to Monday, July 27 and give players access to demos of over 60 games for free.

As noted in the announcement, the demos are not the typical ones that are a small slice of a finished game. The demos will be more akin to the ones that you would see on the show floor at an industry event such as E3, PAX, or Gamescom. This means that some of the games players will be able to demo may be fairly early in development and might not come out for some time.

In addition, the demos will only be available on the Xbox Dashboard for one week. Some of them may be put on the Demo page at a later date, but most of them will be gone for good once the week is up. If you want to play any of the games, it’s best to do so during the course of the event so you don’t potentially end up missing out.

Some games have been announced today. Those are:

  • Cris Tales
  • Destroy All Humans!
  • Haven
  • Hellpoint
  • Skatebird
  • The Vale: Shadow of the Crown
  • Raji: An Ancient Epic
  • Welcome to Elk

According to the announcement, the total amount of games will be “somewhere between 75 and 100 when the dust settles”, with the full list being made available closer to July 21.

In other Xbox news, recently documents leaked that hinted at the long rumored second next-gen Xbox, codenamed Lockhart. Microsoft is also shutting down their Mixer streaming service, and is partnering with Facebook Gaming. And if you’re interested in Xbox Game Pass, here are 15 games that make the service worth having.
