Marvel’s Spider-Man Patch 1.13 Adds Fan-Requested Suit

Sony and Insomniac Games have updated Marvel’s Spider-Man to version 1.13 and the patch includes a suit that fans had been asking for since before the game’s release.

The update fixes “various additional issues” for the Silver Lining DLC chapter that launches tomorrow, but it also adds the Webbed Suit, which was worn by Tobey Maguire in the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy of Spider-Man films that released from 2002-2007.

Marvel's Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man had dozens of suits for the web slinger before this update and owners of the story DLC get even more, and while some of them were pulled from a variety of different comic runs and movies, the request for the “Raimi suit” was constant. The discussion got contentious at times on Insomniac’s Twitter account, with the studio countering accusations that a lack of the suit meant that it wasn’t listening to its customers.

The PlayStation Twitter account even made reference to the controversy when announcing the suit’s release by referring to it as “*that* suit”:

Fans have also been asking for the symbiote suit to make an appearance, but Insomniac Creative Director Bryan Intahar explained why that won’t happen on a Kinda Funny Spoilercast for the game. If you’re not worried about spoilers, you can listen to the conversation at this link.

Marvel’s Spider-Man has been a tremendous success since it released in early September. The game sold 3.3 million copies in its first three days of release, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusive of all time. Our own Fynn Buckland reviewed the game and thoroughly enjoyed it, and he felt that it “beats most of Marvel’s movies” from a narrative perspective.
