Next PS5 Stream Rumored for Early August

The PS5 Future of Gaming stream that was held in mid-June revealed the console and over two dozen games, but there is still a lot we don’t know about Sony’s next-generation console. How much will the two versions of the hardware cost? When will they release? What does the launch lineup look like? Some answers could be on the way, as rumors are heating up that Sony is getting ready to hold another PS5 stream early this month.

The first bit of noteworthy information comes from GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who lists a State of Play event between August 5 and August 11 on his schedule of this summer’s gaming events:

PS5

Grubb has correctly predicted some of the season’s gaming streams, all of which have taken place online due to the coronavirus pandemic. He said that Sony would hold the PS5 reveal event on June 4, which was originally accurate, but the stream was delayed due to civil unrest surrounding the death of George Floyd in the United States.

PushSquare also noticed that all of the trailers and videos for the PS5 reveal stream have been combined into one playlist. The site notes that this could be simple housekeeping on the PlayStation YouTube channel, but it could also hint that new content for the rumored August stream is being uploaded. A user in the comments also pointed out that all of the Ghost of Tsushima content on the channel was consolidated before the game’s State of Play stream took place in May.

During an interview with Geoff Keighley, SIE Senior Vice President Eric Lempel said that the console maker will provide notice before PS5 pre-orders go live. The rumored August stream would be the perfect venue to inform consumers of the price of the PS5 and its digital-only version, when they can be pre-ordered, and which games and accessories will be available on day one.
