New Spider-Man Trailer Promises High-Impact Gameplay

Approaching the game’s September release date, developer Insomniac Games released what might be our final glance at the upcoming Spider-Man title with a gameplay launch trailer. The last big reveal we received of the game occurred during Sony’s E3 presentation this year; here, Sony and Insomniac provided a seven-minute showcase demo. In this demo, we got to see some of the game’s exciting combat as Spidey fights many of the franchise’s most notable villains on the “The Raft” – New York City’s fictional high security prison.

In the new trailer revealed yesterday, the villains are loose and ready to rumble. The trailer shows more of the game’s adrenaline inducing combat and transportation systems as Spidey encounters the game’s cast of antagonists in New York City – giving us a better look at Kingpin, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, Mister Negative, and Silver Sable.

Alongside the intense combat and physics systems that we can’t wait to get our hands on, the trailer highlighted other aspects that are staples of the franchise. We got to see the comical wit of Peter Parker as he navigates his role of a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Moreover, Peter Parker is not alone in his journey, as the trailer shows him interacting with Miles Morales and Aunt May.

In an interview with Engadget, the game’s creative director, Bryan Intihar, states that “you can’t do a Spider-Man experience the right way if you don’t tap into everything that Peter offers to the player or viewer.” The most recent trailer for the game shows how Intihar and the entire team at Insomniac drew from the complex tapestry of Peter Parker, allowing it to unfold in the expansive and exciting open world the game promises.

While we have received a cornucopia of information on the game, there is still a great deal we have yet to see — most notably the character teased at the conclusion of the game’s E3 showcase.

You can embark on this hero’s journey when the game releases on PlayStation on September 7th. Check out the latest trailer below.
