Life is Strange: Remastered Collection Delayed To Early 2022

For anyone who was looking forward to returning to Arcadia Bay next month (or visiting for the first time), you’ll have to wait a couple extra months. The development team has announced that the Life is Strange: Remastered Collection has been delayed to early 2022. In a message posted on Twitter, the team cites the difficulties raised by the global pandemic as part of the reason for the delay, with the other being a desire to “alleviate any additional pressure” that the team may have been facing to release the game when it was originally supposed to.

Announced during E3 2021, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection was going to be released on September 30, just few weeks after the September 10 release of the newest entry in the series, Life is Strange: True Colors. In its place, a DLC chapter for True Colors will release on September 30 called Wavelengths, and it stars Steph Gingrich. Steph was a supporting character in the Life is Strange prequel, Before the Storm, and she’s been confirmed to be in the new game as well.

While releasing the remastered collection so close to the new game would’ve been a great way to boost sales since the series would have been fresh in the people’s minds, it’s ultimately for the best that the developers have more time to work on it. Life is Strange and its prequel Before the Storm are beloved by many, and it would’ve been disappointing if the remasters weren’t up to the level of quality that fans expected. More importantly, there’s also the factor of crunch and making sure that the developers aren’t overworking themselves just to get a game out by a certain deadline. The health and wellbeing of developers always takes priority over a game being released, so this was a very smart call to make.

There will be other Square Enix games to play while we wait for the collection to release though. Aside from the aforementioned Life is Strange: True Colors, there’s also Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy which is set to release this year on October 26.
