Sea of Thieves 4K Trailer Shows Exciting New Features

Rare just released a new 4K trailer for its upcoming, multiplayer adventure game Sea of ThievesThe game is still in technical alpha right now, and this new trailer entitled “Smooth Sailing” is packed full of new content that will be coming to this highly anticipated title next year. Most of the new features showcased in the four-minute trailer are focused on the various methods of interaction you can have with other players, whose actions can influence your own story as you play.

Sea of Thieves

One of the first features shown is “Nonverbal Communication.” Naturally, pirates have a lot to say, but sometimes using text is just as good and, in some cases, even more effective. Via a communication wheel in Sea of Thieves, players will be able to select commands such as “lower the sails” or “fire the cannons!”

Another unique feature coming to the game is called “The Brig”. Building a crew and becoming a legendary pirate is no easy task, and players that commit mutiny won’t make it any easier. For any serial troublemakers in your crew, you can banish them in the brig. Problem solved. This goes both ways, however, and if the crew thinks you’re being a troublemaker, they can sentence you to the brig as well. You can plead your case, though, and apologize if things get too out of hand.

Sea of Thieves

“Scuttling” is a feature that offers your crew a way out just in case your rivals are a bit too challenging. You, along with your crewmates, can elect to sink the ship and later have it raised from its watery grave by mermaids.

We got a closer look at Sea of Thieves during Microsoft’s E3 2017 conference, and it’s shaping up to be a great game. The graphics are colorful and almost add a touch of whimsy to this otherwise charming pirate adventure. Sea of thieves launches in 2018 for Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC.
