Konami Points Finger at Sony for PlayStation Plus Change

The PlayStation Plus July lineup was announced at the end of last month, and PS Plus subscribers were expecting to receive Aquiris Game Studio’s title Horizon Chase Turbo and Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2019 free-to-play for this month.

In a last-minute change to the lineup, though, PES 2019 has been swapped for Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human Deluxe Edition. The game, set in near-future Detroit and which has androids walking among us, released exclusively for the PS4 in May of 2018. Now, in an interview with Gamespot, Konami revealed the swap for the PS Plus July lineup was purely Sony’s decision. The statement, which was given by a Konami representative is short but to the point:

“This decision was made by Sony so please make an inquiry to Sony.”

Sony made an official update to its PlayStation blog in a statement that explained the swap would also include Heavy Rain as part of Detroit: Become Human’s deluxe edition. The company also apologized for any inconvenience, but didn’t offer any follow up or an explanation as to why the swap from PES 2019 to Detroit happened in the first place.

Horizon Chase Turbo and Detroit: Become Human Deluxe Edition will be available for PlayStation Plus from July 2nd to August 5th.
