Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Confirmed after Leak

One of the underrated RPGs of the last console generation will be receiving a remaster this summer. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a modern remaster of 2012’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, has been confirmed by the game’s official Twitter account.

The confirmation comes after a leaked Xbox Store listing was discovered last night by Twitter user Wario64, who often highlights various video game sales and leaked listings for upcoming titles. The tweet mentions that the remaster will include upgraded visuals and all of the original game’s DLC.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was rather well-regarded at launch and was developed by some pretty heavy-hitting creatives, including fantasy author R.A. Salvatore and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. However, the game is better known to some as the sole game released by 38 Studios, a development house that was founded by former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling. Schilling intended to develop an MMORPG based on the Kingdoms of Amalur property, but it would never see the light of day. 38 Studios filed for bankruptcy after defaulting on a heavily-criticized $75 million loan from the Rhode Island government, which was used to lure the studio to the state.

It has since been reported by IGN that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will release on August 18, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
