In a press release today, Focus Home Interactive and Vostok Games announced that Fear the Wolves will be launching on Steam Early Access at the end of this month. The team has also released a new trailer in celebration of the Early Access, which you can watch below.
Fear the Wolves is a Battle Royale, first-person shooter that is set amongst the ruins of radiation-ridden Chernobyl. According to the release statement, the game combines “traditional last-man-standing gameplay with PVE elements and unique radiation, weather, and endgame extraction mechanics.” It also brings S.T.A.L.K.E.R DNA to an impressive 100-player arena.
The game is moving into Early Access, though it still has another two months of development and remains in closed beta. However, the development team have stated that improvements have been made to the game performance and balancing in Fear the Wolves, and now the game is ready to be enjoyed by the large audience on Steam.
The feedback in Early Access will be a team effort, as Vostok Games will be using it to make improvements to Fear the Wolves, while adding in newer and bigger features like maps, game modes, weapons, enemies, and more. In addition to new features, Vostok Games promises “regular, large content patches, with a full plan of the update timeline available on the Steam page throughout development.”
Fear the Wolves will release on Steam Early Access on August 28, 2018. There is a full release of the game on consoles planned for some time in 2019.
