H1Z1: Battle Royale Leaves Open Beta on PS4, Gets Release Date

Daybreak Games’ massively popular H1Z1: Battle Royale has amassed over ten million players since the game has been in Open Beta. Now, the free-to-play game is officially launching this August on PlayStation 4. Producer at Daybreak Games for H1Z1, Terrence Yee, took to the PlayStation Blog today to make the announcement.

To commemorate the official launch of the game on PS4, the developer will be adding a slew of new weapons, vehicles, and features. Some of the new weapons are an explosive RPG and deadly SOCOM semi-automatic sniper rifle. According to Yee, the “RPG has particular utility against vehicles, while the SOCOM slots in between the Scout Rifle and M40 Sniper Rifle (now a one-shot kill to the head, even with a helmet) to add another tactical layer to long-range gunfights.”

H1Z1 will also be getting its first Battle Pass on launch. Battle Pass Season 1 will include three reward lines and 30 rewards tiers. As the game is free-to-play, players will automatically be put into the free reward line, though earning XP through gameplay or in-game purchases will allow players to unlock other tiers. The premium for Battle Pass Season 1 is 5.49, and PlayStation Plus members will get the PS plus line for free.

Daybreak Games is also adding two new bundles- The Viper bundle ($4.99) and the Hardline Deluxe bundle ($34.99)- which include new outfits and skins.

H1Z1: Battle Royale will officially launch on PlayStation 4 on August 7.
