Everything Shown During the State of Play
Sony held a new State of Play yesterday for the first time since June. This episode didn’t feature any new information regarding PS5 hardware, pricing, or release date, and it didn’t have any updates on first-party studios. Instead, we got updates on a number of different third-party and indie games that will be coming to PS4 in the coming months, as well as updates on some titles that will be coming to PS5.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
Crash Bandicoot 4 kicked off the State of Play with a gameplay overview, detailing some new gameplay additions, characters, and the new N. Verted mode.
Hitman 3
Hitman 3 is going to be getting a VR mode for Playstation users. The first two games in this new trilogy will also be playable in VR as well.
Braid, Anniversary Edition
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the State of Play was the announcement of Braid: Anniversary Edition. The indie classic returns next year with updated visuals, music, animations, and commentary about the development of the game.
The Pathless
We got a deep dive into the gameplay and world of The Pathless, coming to PS5 later this year.
Spelunky 2
Spelunky 2 finally got a release date during the State of Play. The game will be released in just over a month on September 15.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact showed off some gameplay with its many characters throughout the world. The game releases this Fall on PS4 worldwide.
Aeon Must Die
Aeon Must Die made its debut during today’s State of Play with some striking gameplay. The game comes out next year.
ANNO: Mutatoinem
ANNO: Mutationem made an appearance during the State of Play as well. The game comes out this December.
Bugsnax
Bugsnax pulled back the curtain a bit and revealed gameplay for the first time ever. It releases this holiday season.
Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series
Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series finally got an August 25 release date for PSVR.
Control Expansion 2 AWE
The second expansion for Control also got a release date. Players will get their hands on it on August 27.
Auto Chess
Auto Chess comes to PS4 this Fall on October 31.
The Pedestrian
The side scrolling puzzle platformer The Pedestrian was announced to be coming to PS4 next year.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends
Hood: Outlaws & Legends made its debut during the State of Play as well. The trailer was mostly cinematic and hints at a game where you work together with three other people to get some treasure, while another team of four does the same thing. It’ll be coming to PS5 next year.
Temtem
Temtem, the Pokémon-esque MMO will be coming to PS5 next year.
Godfall
The State of Play ended with our first long look at gameplay for Godfall. The footage focused on the game’s combat and how two of its weapon classes will function.
