EA Reveals Dark Indie Title Sea of Solitude

During EA’s E3 2018 conference, indie developer Jo-Mei took the stage to announce new IP, Sea of Solitude. It’s a dark title, both atmospheric and haunting, and it takes gamers into a world that’s wrought with loneliness.

Sea of Solitude is an EA Originals game that was picked up by the publisher in 2o15, and has been in development since. The game follows a young girl named Kay, who’s loneliness and frustration transforms her into a monster. The game is then focused on Kay’s journey of trying to turn herself back to normal.

The game’s writer and creative director, Cornelia Geppert stated, “when humans get too lonely, they turn into monsters. Embrace you self doubt, in the same way you embrace your hope. This is what being human is all about.” Despite its dark content, the game is atmospheric in nature, and the team at Jo-Mei looks to be giving it many vibrant undertones that will help to subvert its overall dreary tone.

There is no definitive release date for Sea of Solitude yet, but the game is expected to release some time in early 2019.
