Demon’s Souls Remake in Development for PS5

The much-rumored Demon’s Souls remake was finally revealed today during Sony’s PS5 reveal stream. It was confirmed that the game is being developed by Bluepoint Games and JAPAN Studio, the same duo that collaborated on the fantastic Shadow of the Colossus remake for PS4. The original version of Demon’s Souls was released on PS3 in 2009 and was the game that spawned the “Soulsborne” genre of games that includes the Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, Nioh, and Serkiro: Shadows Die Twice.

We didn’t get a whole lot of information for the remake, but a post on the PlayStation Blog revealed that “players can choose between two graphics modes while playing: one focused on fidelity, and one focused on frame rate.”

A release date for Demon’s Souls was not announced. The remake is part of an impressive slate of PS5-exclusive games that also includes Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Gran Turismo 7.
