Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been Delayed Again
Today developer CD Projekt Red announced that its highly anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077, has been delayed to November. This is the second time the game has been pushed back from its launch date, having been delayed five months from its original April 16th date to September 17th.
The surprising news came via the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, in a development update that was written by Marcin Iwiński and Adam Badowski, CD Projekt Red’s Co-Founder and Head of Studio, respectively.
In the update, Iwiński and Badowski revealed that Cyberpunk 2077’s content and gameplay- from the quests, to the cutscenes, skills and items- are all finished. Because of the game’s size, however, and the abundance of content, the development team still needs time to properly go through everything, in order to “balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs.”

2020 has definitely seen its share of game delays. PlayStation 4 exclusives, The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima both saw unexpected delays this year. Even Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake got pushed from its original date before it finally released in April. CD Projekt Red has made it clear, though, that the phrase “ready when it’s done” is something the studio lives by in order to deliver the quality games its fans have come to expect.
All that being said, CD Projekt Red is still on schedule to host the Night City Wire event on June 25th, which will give players more of a detailed look at the setting of Cyberpunk 2077.
The game is now slated for release on November 19th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
