Child of Light and Valiant Hearts are Getting Nintendo Switch Ports

A press release from Ubisoft has revealed that Child of Light and Valiant Hearts are finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. Both games run on the outstanding UbiArt Framework, which is an engine for 2.5D games. The two games have received praises from both critics and fans during their original release a couple years back.

Child of Light is a turn-based RPG/2D platformer with a fantasy setting. You play as Aurora, a young girl who finds herself in a new world where darkness reigns. During exploration, the game plays out like a platformer as you solve puzzles and look for secrets. When you encounter an enemy, it shifts to a turn-based RPG where you control a two-member party. You can customise your characters with skill points and stat-boosting gems. The Nintendo Switch version will allow for co-op using the two joy-cons. In the co-op mode, the second player controls Igniculus, a small, sentient ball of light. He can heal Aurora or stun enemies during combat.

Valiant Hearts has a more realistic context as it showcases the horrors of war, specifically, World War I. The story is told through the perspective of five different characters, making for an engaging experience. The Nintendo Switch version will have full touch controls and also comes with a digital comic, Valiant Hearts: Dogs of War. This comic will explore the stories of two dogs, Walt and Cassie, and their hardships in the trenches of WWI.

Both titles will be an excellent addition to the Nintendo Switch library. Not only do they have stunning graphics, but they aim to tell a powerful and emotional story. The gameplay is great for both titles and you can’t go wrong with either one. Hopefully, Ubisoft makes more games with the UbiArt Framework, because they are phenomenal.

Child of Light and Valiant Hearts will launch on the Nintendo Switch later this year, on October 11 and November 8 respectively.
