Capcom is Open to More Remakes After Resident Evil 2

In a recent investor Q&A, Capcom revealed it expects the Resident Evil 2 remake to reach the “million-seller class of titles”. It makes sense, given the fact the second game in the long-running series has been lauded as one of fans’ favorites, and the reveal trailer for the remake was well-received during Sony’s E3 2018 conference. With the impending release of the RE2 remake, it makes room for an entirely new wave of players who’ve yet to experience the game, or whose first time with Resident Evil was the release of RE7: Biohazard last year.

Given that Resident Evil 2 is on track to be a large success in the coming year, Capcom explained in the Q&A it’s open to brushing the dust off some of its other franchises. “In order to tie this first success to actual sales we are working out our promotional strategy. Further, regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”

Capcom then goes on to discuss how fan interest in its Resident Evil series and Devil May Cry has grown since the announcement of Devil May Cry 5 and the new Resident Evil 2. It seems newer customers have been interested in purchasing previous games in the series to finally see what all the fuss is about.

Resident Evil 2 is currently available for pre-order for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
