Your Guide to March’s Major Game Releases

It’s been a relatively slow start to 2018 in terms of major game releases, even with Monster Hunter: World and Shadow of the Colossus. March is about to change all that, though, as there are huge games coming out each week. Here’s what you can expect:

Week I: March 1-7

Life is Strange

  • Life is Strange: Before the Storm: Farewell (PS4, Xbox One, PC) – March 5
  • Bravo Team (PSVR) – March 6
  • Final Fantasy XV (PC) – March 6

Week II: March 8 – 14

Golem

  • Warhammer: Vermintide 2  (PC) – March 8
  • Devil May Cry HD Collection – (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – March 13
  • Golem (PSVR) – March 13

Week III: March 15-21

Sea of Thieves

  • Kirby Star Allies (Switch) – March 16
  • Burnout Paradise Remastered (PS4, Xbox One) 16
  • Assassin’s Creed Rogue: Remastered (PS4, Xbox One) March 20
  • Sea of Thieves – (PC, Xbox One) March 20
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4 – (PS4) March 21

Week IV: March 22-30

Ni No Kuni II

  • A Way Out – (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – March 23
  • Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (PC, PS4) – March 23
  • Far Cry 5 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – March 27
  • MLB The Show 18 (PS4) – March 27

At $60 a game, major game releases can really put a strain on the wallet, so below are the top five to keep on your radar:

  • Life is Strange: Before the Storm: Farewell

Before the Storm’s bonus episode Farewell is included for those who purchased the deluxe edition of the game. While Before the Storm was a lackluster experience at best (and an unnecessary one at worst), Farewell is going to see the return of Max Caulfield, the protagonist of the original, five-part Life is Strange game. Farewell will focus on younger Max and Chloe’s relationship, and what’s even better is that Ashly Burch and Hannah Telle will be reprising their roles as Chloe and Max, respectively.

  • Sea of Thieves

With two closed betas, over two million hours of play-time, and over fourteen million hours of watch time, Sea of Thieves is one hyped up game. Not only that, but it’s one that will hopefully pull more gamers into the Xbox ecosystem. It’s hard to capture Sea of Thieves’ popularity in a few sentences. The game has really blown up. Its undeniable whimsy and charm, not to mention the multi-player aspect, make it one to keep on your calendar.

  • A Way Out

Announced at EA’s E3 2017  conference, A Way Out is changing the way you plays games with friends. Set in the 1970s, the prison-break game has players either controlling Leo or Vincent in a two-player, co-operative mode that has a split screen.

  • Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

The world of Revenant Kingdom is nothing short of beautiful. In this sequel, developer LEVEL-5 has us following the story of Evan as he reclaims his throne. I got some hands-on time with Revenant Kingdom at E3 2017, and the battle system and gameplay as a whole has been revamped. It will be great to play the finished product.

  • Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 promises to deliver the same amount of action and story that we have experienced throughout the series thus far- only this time, in America. Set in the (fictional) small town of Hope County, Montana, Far Cry 5 focuses on a religious cult whose extremist leader, Joseph Seed, believes he is the protector of his people (and religion) no matter the cost. If Seed is anything like Vaas and Pagan Min, we’re in for a wild ride.
