Support Grows for a Chappie Skin in Apex Legends

A lot of Apex Legends players think that the game’s Pathfinder hero should get a skin based on Chappie, the robot main character from the 2015 film of the same name, and director Neill Blomkamp seems to agree.

Blomkamp confirmed via a tweet that gamers have been asking him about a potential crossover and that he’d give such an endeavor his blessing:

A short time later, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella showed his support as well:

The tweets from Blomkamp and Zampella give the idea a little more traction, and it also helps matters that EA and Blomkamp collaborated recently on a live action trailer for Anthem. It’s worth noting, however, that Chappie was distributed by Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, so any skin based on the film’s main character would likely have to be approved and licensed by them.

Apex Legends is currently taking the battle royale genre by storm and seems to be legitimate competition for Fortnite. The game is free to download on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and surpassed 25 million players in its first week.
