Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Collector’s Edition Announced

As we get closer to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate December 7 release date, Nintendo continues to reveal more information about the game. While the most exciting updates have come in the form of character and stage reveals, we are also getting to see some of the hardware that will be released with the title. A recent update on the official Super Smash Bros. website showed that a Smash themed Pro Controller will be released alongside the upcoming title.

The Smash inspired Pro Controller features a translucent, black plastic face with white handles; adorned with a large, white Super Smash Bros. logo.  While the controller can be bought as a standalone item, it will also be included in an exclusive collector’s edition of the game.

The Super Smash Bros. website does not list what is exactly included in this set or its sales price; However, the BestBuy website placed a pre-order listing for the collector’s edition following Nintendo’s announcement. The website states that the collector’s edition will include a copy of the game, a steel case, and the Smash themed Pro Controller; which will be sold for $139.99. The website also lists that the Switch Pro Controller will be sold for $74.99.

This information came soon after Game Director Masahiro Sakuari announced that a collector’s edition of the game including the game, a Smash themed GameCube controller, and a GameCube adapter will be available upon the title’s release – retailing for $109.99. Players will also be able buy the Smash themed GameCube controller and the GameCube adapter separately for $29.99 and $19.99, respectively.

The announcement of the Smash themed Pro Controller, paired with the option to play the game using a GameCube controller, highlights the games all-inclusive approach – accommodating all playstyles and allowing fans to enjoy the franchise’s most complete iteration in the way they choose.

While the game does not release until December 7, these collector’s editions are sure to go quick, and die-hard Smashers may have to secure a pre-order to get their hands on one of these sets.
