Sony Reveals State of Play, First Stream to Air on 3/25

Sony has officially announced State of Play, a new video series that will provide “updates and announcements from the world of PlayStation.” The first episode will air live on Monday, March 25 at 2:00pm Pacific Time on PlayStation’s Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook channels.

The livestream “will showcase upcoming PS4 and PS VR software, including new trailers, new game announcements and new gameplay footage.” It sounds very much like Sony’s version of a Nintendo Direct, which Nintendo uses to communicate directly with its fans every few months.

Sony revealed back in November that it would be skipping E3 2019 entirely and instead use “new and familiar ways to engage” with consumers. Even though the expo won’t have a PlayStation presence for the first time in 25 years, the brand’s direct competitors will attempt to pick up the slack. Microsoft apparently has “big” plans for the event, and former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé said that attending E3 is a “no-brainer.”
