Rockstar Teases Red Dead Redemption 2 Announcement

We haven’t heard anything about Red Dead Redemption 2 in a while. Originally slated for release this fall, Rockstar ultimately delayed the game until Spring 2018, and it’s been crickets ever since. Now, courtesy of Rockstar’s Twitter, it looks like we have some big news to look forward to next week.

Aside from the date and time (11AM ET, 10AM CT, 8AM PT), this image tells us absolutely nothing, only that it’s the same red and black color scheme that has been used with the promotion of Red Dead Redemption 2 thus far.

Rockstar released the announcement trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 almost a year ago now, and since then marketing for the game has been almost non-existent. (Before the game was delayed, fans were hopeful it would be on Sony’s stage at E3 2017, because Rockstar has stated PS4 users will receive special online content). Because of the serious lack of info about the game, any news that Rockstar shares about Red Dead 2 next week could come in the form of a gameplay or story trailer, along with an official release date. Hopefully.

Like the first game, Red Dead Redemption 2 will take place in the American West. The announcement trailer from last October gave us a glimpse of some seriously gorgeous landscapes and dangerous cowboys. In terms of narrative, we still don’t know too much, but a quote from the trailer gives us insight into the game’s dark undertones as an unknown voice says, “Listen to me. When the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back. This is over.” Rockstar has also described the game as “an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland”.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available for pre-order and will release on PS4 and Xbox One and Xbox One X in Spring 2018. Rockstar has not commented on whether there will be a version for PC.
