After months of waiting, Sony has officially announced launch information for the PS5 during today’s PlayStation 5 Showcase.
The standard, disc-based PS5 will retail for $499.99, while the Digital Edition will come in at $399.99. Both consoles will launch on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and the rest of the world on November 19. The first launch date is only days after the launch of the Xbox Series X and Series S, which launch on November 10.
When it comes to pre-orders, the PlayStation Twitter account tweeted that “PS5 pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers.”
One of those retailers could be the PlayStation direct website, which will offer a limited number of reservations from a pool of potential customers who sign up with their PlayStation Network accounts.
Sony is expecting massive demand for the PS5. Back in July, Bloomberg reported that the hardware giant was looking to double production of the console during its launch window.
