Nintendo Direct Announced For Tomorrow

Nintendo has announced that we will be getting a new, full Nintendo Direct tomorrow. The Direct will be livestreamed at 2PM PT/5PM ET and will be about 50 minutes long. In terms of announcements, Nintendo has confirmed that the Direct will focus on games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as other games coming to the Switch in the first half of 2021.

This is the first full Nintendo Direct that we’ve received since September 4, 2019. That Direct brought the announcement that Overwatch was coming to the Switch, a lengthy look at Animal Crossing: New Horizons gameplay, and the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, amongst other things. Since then, we’ve only received Directs that were specific to certain games, mini-Directs, and Indie game Directs, leaving many to wonder when we would get a normal, Nintendo Direct. The period of wondering is finally (and thankfully) coming to an end very soon.

Although Nintendo offered a small tease about what we can expect from tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct, there’s a lot to speculate about. Will the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news be a new character announcement? It’s been two months since Sephiroth was announced and released, so it’s very possible. Maybe they’ll announce new features and game modes, or a third Fighters Pass?

And what of the other games? We know very little about Nintendo’s 2021 lineup of games, so anything could appear here. It’s very likely that we’ll get a tease of future updates that’ll be coming to Animal Crossing in the coming months. There’s also the fact that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda franchise. Perhaps we’ll get an announcement about how Nintendo plans to celebrate the occasion. We’ll just have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to find out what this Nintendo Direct has in store for us.
