New Kingdom Hearts III Trailer Celebrates 90 Years of Mickey Mouse

Though Kingdom Hearts III is still six months from release, publisher Square Enix is ramping up the excitement by showing some love for the series’ very own King Mickey! The world’s favorite mouse is quickly approaching his 90th birthday, and in celebration, Square Enix has released a new Kingdom Hearts III trailer showing several of Mickey’s best moments from the series so far.

The video was first shown during an invite-only event at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and was recently released online on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel.

Attempting to capture Mickey Mouse’s impact around the world in one article will do it little justice. First introduced in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928, our beloved mouse has had quite the evolution in the last ninety years. It’s something special, watching Square Enix display not only what makes Mickey Mouse a badass in Kingdom Hearts, but what has made this mouse an icon around the world.

The thirteen year-long wait for Kingdom Hearts III is almost over. We got a better look at Sora’s next adventure during multiple conferences at E3 2018, in the form of trailers and more details about the new and returning worlds- some of which include Kingdom of Corona from Tangled and Ratatouille’s world. The official description of Kingdom Hearts III states:

Kingdom Hearts III tells the story of the power of friendship as Sora and his friends embark on a perilous adventure. Set in a vast array of Disney and Pixar worlds, Kingdom Hearts follows the journey of Sora, a young boy and unknowing heir to a spectacular power. Sora is joined by Donald Duck and Goofy to stop an evil force known as the Heartless from invading and taking over the universe.

Kingdom Hearts III will release on January 29, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is now available for pre-order.

Happy (early) birthday, King Mickey!
