Naughty Dog Introduces The Last of Us Part II Video Series

Naughty Dog released the first installment in a new, in-depth video series that takes a look behind the scenes of The Last of Us Part II. With just a few weeks to go until the launch of the game, Naughty Dog devs are finally giving fans more intimate details about the story, setting, and the creative ideas that have influenced the development of The Last of Us Part II for the last few years.

In the first part of this video series, Naughty Dog takes fans behind the scenes of the story of the second game. The video provides a closer look at the setting of Jackson, one of the primary locations where Joel and Ellie found themselves during the later half of the first game. Also in the video series, Naughty Dog opens up on how they have expanded on both the world of The Last of Us and its many characters.

“We’re hoping to create a story that makes a commentary about the cycle of violence,” Neil Druckmann said in the opening of the video. Although there’s a larger story at play in The Last of Us Part II, according to narrative lead Halley Gross, during this development process the studio has really cared about “honoring Ellie and Joel, specifically, and their journey as characters.”

The Last of Us Part II releases exclusively on PlayStation 4 on June 19th.
