Meet the Wrathful, “Righteous” Priest in the New Evil Within 2 Trailer

From what we have seen of The Evil Within 2 since its unveiling at Bethesda’s E3 2017 showcase, the game is shaping up to be better and even more terrifying than the first one. Throughout this promotional phase for The Evil Within 2we have been invited to “return to the nightmare” from the first game, and we have also been introduced to some new, twisted characters, like the photographer Stefano.

In the most recent trailer released by Bethesda, players get a taste of the horror that the “righteous” priest Father Theodore has in store. Fair warning- he is not the priest you want laying hands on you during mass.

The trailer starts with Father Theodore demanding your attention and saying, “I am here to guide you, seeker. Just as I guided my flock in the other world. We have the same goal, you and I. We seek the girl, although for different reasons.” The “girl” in question is Detective Sebastian Castellanos’s daughter, Lily, whose mind is being used for The Union’s core. In order to save her, Sebastian must partner with the organization that was responsible for ruining his life, and bring himself to confront true evil.

Like Stefano in the trailer before him, Father Theodore gives us new glimpses into the new STEM world that awaits us in The Evil Within 2. Nearly everything is on fire and broken, and the aspects of the world that we view as horror, Father Theodore views as “incredible potential.” He claims this new, dark world is still forming and needs to be crafted by the new god. “I am that new god,” he says. Father Theodore then confesses that Lily’s power can help him create the world to his liking, and he will accept nothing less than your full cooperation.

The Evil Within 2 will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, October 13th. Watch the full, chilling trailer below.
