Kingdom Hearts III Leaks Ahead of January 29 Release

Spoiler-sensitive gamers who are looking forward to Kingdom Hearts III now need to venture the internet on high alert, as the game has leaked well ahead of its release on January 29.

Eurogamer first reported that copies of the game were being sold on Facebook Marketplace before the listing was removed. Additionally, they highlighted a tweet from Nibel on Twitter, who posted images of a physical Xbox One copy and the game being installed on someone’s console:

It is rather surprising that the game leaked six weeks before its release, but as we reported previously, Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts III’s development was completed late last month. The game was supposed to release this year, but was delayed to January to accommodate a worldwide launch and get out of a very busy Q4 2018 release period.

While stumbling across any type of information regarding Kingdom Hearts III may be a worry for series fans, the game’s most spoiler-filled moments are not on the discs that have somehow made it into the wild. In a statement on Twitter, Game Director Tetsuya Nomura explained that the game’s epilogue and secret movie, “which are the biggest spoilers in this game,” will “be released at a later date.” Presumably, that content will be added via a patch around the game’s official launch. Normua also asks that people who have links to leaked content refrain from sharing them online, out of respect to other fans.

Once its launches on its official release date of January 29, Kingdom Hearts III will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. The limited edition PS4 console bundle for the game went up for pre-order on GameStop.com yesterday morning, but was only available for a few hours before it went out of stock. It remains to be seen if another allocation of consoles will become available before the game launches.
