Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC Announced, Both Free and Paid

Kingdom Hearts 3 players can get excited for more content on the way as director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that free and paid DLC is coming soon.

In an interview with Japanese publication Dengeki Online, Nomura discussed plans for the future of Square Enix’s action role-playing game that released earlier this year on January 29, 2019. He states that the free DLC will come in incremental updates dotted throughout the year and may include the addition of a critical mode difficulty to the game. Traditionally, critical mode is the most extreme difficulty offered in Kingdom Hearts and involves players dealing half as much damage but receiving double the beating from enemies. This mode was absent in the initial release of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Nomura’s comments on paid DLC suggests that it will likely be packaged together in one purchase and would flesh out the story of Kingdom Hearts 3. He also stated it was unlikely such an expansion would be part of a ‘Final Mix’ re-release as has been the case in the past.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has already been a massive success for Square Enix after selling over 5 million copies in its first week and rewarding many fans and critics for their long wait between instalments. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the announced DLC, which Nomura believes should all be out by the end of 2019.
