Kena: Bridge of Spirits Delayed to Q1 2021

Orange, CA developer Ember Lab has announced via Twitter that Kena: Bridge of Spirits, a breakout title shown during Sony’s PS5 reveal stream, has been delayed to Q1 2021. The announcement mentions that the team’s “transition to working from home has caused development to move slower than we hoped.” The extra development time will be used to “give the game the polish it deserves and deliver an experience that meets our vision and your expectations.”

When the game launches in its new Q1 2021 release window, it will be available on PS5, PS4, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the latest title to suffer a delay in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, as teams begin to learn how working from home has impacted their projects. Other games that have been delayed due to COVID-19 include Arkane Lyon’s DEATHLOOP and 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite.

September’s Game Informer magazine issue featured Kena: Bridge of Spirits and we learned how the game is taking advantage of the super-fast SSD that is housed in the PS5. When launching from scratch via the console’s dashboard, the game loads and is ready to play in “about two seconds.”
