We’re Celebrating 10 Years of Assassin’s Creed

We are a few short weeks away from the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins on October 27th, as well as the ten-year anniversary of the franchise. Since its release in 2007 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the Assassin’s Creed series has taken us all over the world. From the Crusades, to Medieval Rome, to Dickens’ London, to Boston during the American Revolution, fans have experienced a wealth of history and unforgettable characters over the last decade. Now with the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Ubisoft has taken on the huge task of exploring ancient Egypt, one of greatest empires in the world.

Ancient Egypt is already complete with a rich history, iconic figures like Cleopatra and Julius Caesar, and enough political corruption to last a lifetime, so incorporating the Assassin’s Creed lore into that empire shouldmake for an interesting, and hopefully lasting experience. From what we have seen of the trailers and news of Origins since its full reveal at Microsoft’s E3 2017 showcase, Ubisoft has not only re-imagined certain aspects of Assassin’s Creed like combat and exploration, but it seems like the developer is trying to inspire fans to think about the series and its future in a completely new way. The series has come a long way since 2007, but it’s also held fast to the traditional gameplay and narrative elements that have made Assassin’s Creed feel like… well, Assassin’s Creed.

From a fan perspective, it feels like there is a lot riding on the release of Origins. It can either give a new and much-needed vibrancy to a series that has, for the most part, played it safe over the years, or it can simply hit the mark of what we have come to expect of an Assassin’s Creed game and not really exceed our expectations. Either way, there is a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Join LoadingXP from October 20th – 27th, as we celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Assassin’s Creed. We will be taking a look back on the series, highlighting memorable moments, discussing what the series has meant to us over the years, and breaking down everything you need to know about Origins. It’s a celebration you don’t want to miss!
