This week, Sony revealed two new, galaxy-inspired editions of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller: Midnight Black and Cosmic Red. According to the official PlayStation blog, Sony was inspired by “how we view space through the night sky” and by the “unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos.” After an extensive selection process, designer Leo Cardoso stated the new controllers feel like a “natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs.”
Fellow designer Satoshi Aoyagi also spoke to the two new DualSense editions, mentioning how they both have a “subtle blue hue that produces unique shades of red and black.” Given the original white controller also has a blue hue, “all three colors complement each other nicely.”
The controllers are currently available for pre-order in the US and UK on Amazon, Best Buy, and PlayStation Direct. There is a $5 difference between the controllers, with the Midnight Black retailing for $69.99 and the Cosmic Red at $74.99.
