ICYMI: Resident Evil Project Resistance Revealed at TGS 2019
Capcom has been a standout publisher this console generation. It’s hard to miss titles like Monster Hunter: World, Devil May Cry 5, and Resident Evil 2 Remake (RE2). Following the massive financial success of both Resident Evil 7 and RE2 its only natural that a new game would be in the works. Reportedly a few weeks ago members of the Resident Evil Ambassador were asked to test a new horror experience. Now that TGS 2019 is in full swing, Capcom has finally lifted the veil on their new secret game!
Project Resistance is the next game in the universe of Resident Evil. Initial screenshot leaks showed four possibly playable characters which led most to believe a reboot of the RE Outbreak which was a shooter featuring cooperative and online multiplayer experiences. While this new game is similar to Outbreak due to the cooperative mechanics, it is a completely different direction for the horror series. This new game is a 4v1 multiplayer game in which there are four playable characters opposing one powerful force. The first teaser trailer showed each of the characters fighting foes familiar to fans of the series such as zombies and a Licker. At the end of that trailer it was revealed that Mr. X was controlling the enemies and then players were tasked with fighting the formidable foe (which is nearly unkillable in RE2).
While no release date was announced, it was revealed that members of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program can sign up for the closed beta right here. For more Resident Evil, check out our review for RE2 and make sure to stay tuned for more Project Resistance updates!
