During today’s PS5 reveal stream, Sony announced that Horizon Forbidden West is in development at Guerrilla and will be released on PS5 at an unknown date. The game serves as the follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn, which was released in 2017 and is one of the PS4’s highest-rated exclusives. Aside from the reveal of the PS5 hardware, this was arguably the biggest announcement during Sony’s event.
According to the trailer’s description, “Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy’s story as she moves west to a far-future America to brave a majestic, but dangerous frontier where she’ll face awe-inspiring machines and mysterious new threats.”
Horizon Zero Dawn has sold over 10 million copies on PS4 and will soon be released on PC, so it seemed inevitable that it would receive a sequel. Even so, it was great to hear that Aloy will be making her return on PS5.
