Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Coming to PC

Microsoft has announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PC later this year and will be distributed through the Microsoft Store and Steam.

The publisher is working with Splash Damage and Ruffian Games to deliver all of the standard features that PC gamers expect, including “excellent mouse and keyboard controls, support for multiple resolutions and aspect ratios, field-of-view sliders, and adjustable framerates.” The PC version will also include controller support.

While Microsoft didn’t discuss a price or specific release date, it was revealed that the collection will roll out in stages, beginning with Halo: Reach. Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST’s campaign, and Halo 4 will release later in chronological order, and “will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available.” It isn’t clear at the moment if gamers will be able to pay one price to obtain all of the content as a bundle, which was the method Microsoft used to release the collection on Xbox One back in 2014.

Halo: Reach will also be added to the Xbox One version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which fans have been requesting for quite some time. The game’s multiplayer suite will be patched in for everyone via a free update, while the campaign and Firefight modes will be offered as paid DLC. Xbox Game Pass members will gain access to all Halo: Reach content for no additional charge as part of their subscription.

One thing that was absent from the announcement was any mention of Halo 5: Guardians coming to PC. It is considered by many to be the weakest entry in the series, but with Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite heading to the platform, it would be nice for PC gamers to have the ability to play all of the Halo games in one place.
