Halo Infinite Debuts its Campaign Gameplay

Microsoft held their Xbox Games Showcase today and they kicked off the event with the first ever gameplay demo of Halo Infinite’s campaign. The gameplay shown was classic Halo, with some new features that make this game stand out from past games. The demo started with Master Chief and his new companion (who’s only been referred to as The Pilot so far) from previous trailers crashing on the Halo ring after taking fire from enemy anti-aircraft guns.

Chief then takes to the battlefield to eliminate the enemy weapons. The area is much larger and more open than ones seen in previous Halo games. Due to this, there is now a world map that players can use to find their way around the environment and tackle objectives in the order that they want to.

Combat is what you would typically expect from a Halo game, but some new elements were shown off. One such thing is the addition of a grappling hook, a feature that’s been rumored to be in the game for some time now. It can be used to pull items to you, or to pull yourself towards distant enemies or pieces of the environment. A new piece of equipment was also shown that placed a shield down front of Chief and protected him from gunfire. There were also a number of new weapons revealed in the demo, on both the human side and the Banished side.

The demo ended with an extended monologue from the main villain of the game, War Chief Escharum, alongside other shots from the story.

Halo Infinite is shaping up to be big game in terms of scope and anticipation. This gameplay demo is sure to get fans more excited for the game, and thankfully they won’t need an Xbox Series X to play it when it launches this holiday season on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
