Final Fantasy VII Remake and Avengers Have Been Delayed

Final Fantasy VII Remake producer, Yoshinori Kitase, penned an official statement that the game has been delayed and will now release on April 10, 2020. The official Twitter account for the game posted the update this morning.

“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experiences,” Kitase wrote. You can read the full statement below:

Final Fantasy VII Remake was originally scheduled to release on March 3rd, so the month-long delay isn’t too bad for those anxiously awaiting its release. However, the new release date puts Final Fantasy VII in the middle of two other major releases that month: Resident Evil 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, which have release dates of April 3rd and April 16th, respectively.

Another game that has received a more lengthy delay today is Marvel’s Avengers. The Co-Heads of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg, made the announcement this morning, writing that the game would now be releasing on September 4, 2020. This is a little over four months after its initial release date of May 15th.

“When we set out to bring you our vision for Marvel’s Avengers, we committed to delivering an original story-drive campaign, engaging co-op, and compelling content for years to come,” wrote Amos and Rosenberg. “To that end, we will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards that our fans expect and deserve.
