Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Announced For PS5

Closing out today’s State of Play was the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the PS5 version of last year’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. Releasing worldwide later this year on June 10th, the new version of the game comes with loads of improvements and features, as well as a new chapter featuring the classic ninja Yuffie.

The new chapter involving Yuffie takes place after the second reactor bombing, and has you playing as her after she’s snuck into Midgar. She’s on a mission to steal a powerful Materia from Shinra in order to restore glory to her homeland of Wutai. This chapter introduces new characters, story, and gameplay additions. The bit of gameplay that we got to see of her in combat looked great, with it showing off her flashy shuriken and ninjitsu moves.

Some of the graphical upgrades that Intergrade will bring include enhanced lighting, textures, and fog effects. These will all be perfect for those who like to take screenshots when playing. Square Enix seems to have had people like that in mind because Intergrade will feature a Photo Mode. The trailer showcased various filters and other features for Photo Mode, so photographers should get ready to spend plenty of time with it.

There are also some quality of life changes being made to the game. A Quality Mode favoring resolution and a Performance Mode favoring frame rate are coming, and more difficulty options have been added. Load times have also been drastically improved, with a saved game being loaded in just two seconds.

For PS4 owners of Final Fantasy VII Remake, you can upgrade to Intergrade for free. Otherwise, it’ll cost $70 for the normal edition and $90 for the digital deluxe edition which include a digital art book and mini-soundtrack. If you upgrade to Intergrade, the Yuffie chapter will be available for purchase after upgrading.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake came out on PS4 last year, our own Tori Morrow reviewed it and liked it a lot, saying that it was a “excellent reimagining of the original game.” Whether you’ve played it on PS4 or not, Intergrade is looking to be the definitive way to experience this game.
