A Ton of Final Fantasy Games are Coming to Nintendo Switch
Today’s Nintendo Direct presentation revealed that a bunch of Final Fantasy titles are coming to Nintendo Switch.
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, which originally released on mobile devices, is available now on the Nintendo eShop. While the graphics are more simplistic, it features the complete story that was present in the original PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. It is currently on sale for $17.99, but will increase to its standard price of $29.99 after September 20th. It is also available on PS4 and Xbox One, and the launch trailer for the game can be viewed below.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima, which originally released as World of Final Fantasy on PS4 and PlayStation Vita in 2016, will launch on November 6th. It will feature the same chibi graphics and turn-based gameplay as the original version, but will feature new characters and monsters from the Final Fantasy series. No price was announced, but it will also launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on the same date.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, an updated version of the GameCube release, will come out in 2019. The original version was famous for requiring four Game Boy Advance consoles and four GBA-to-GameCube link cables to play 4-player multiplayer, but this remaster will feature online play. It will also release on PS4, and the announcement trailer can be viewed below.
2019 will also see Switch versions of Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy X-2. No additional details were provided, but the ports will likely be based off of the ones released on PS4 and PC.
And lastly, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will also come to Switch in 2019. From the wording on Square Enix’s website, it sounds like it will be similar to the PS4 and PC versions of the game, which featured remastered graphics and enhancements to the job and battle systems. While not mentioned in the Direct presentation, it will also release on Xbox One.
In addition to the Final Fantasy news, the Direct featured a bunch of other announcements, including the surprise reveals of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and the next mainline Animal Crossing game.
