Far Cry 6 Reveal Coming This Sunday

Ubisoft is teasing a reveal for Far Cry 6 at their upcoming Ubisoft Forward event. The tease comes from the Far Cry Twitter page, revealing that actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) will be portraying the villain of the game named Anton.

This announcement follows a leak that came earlier in the day on PSN which provided more details about the game, including the story, setting, and release date. The game will take place in Yara, a “tropical paradise frozen in time.” Anton Castillo is the dictator of the island and his goal is to restore the island to its former glory by whatever means necessary. He has a son named Diego that will be following in his footsteps and helping him achieve this goal.

Far Cry 6 has players control Dani Rojas, a resident of Yara and a guerrilla fighter that’s working to free the country from the control of Anton and Diego. Yara is poised to be the largest map yet in a Far Cry game, with players taking the battle to jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara. The Fangs for Hire system from Far Cry 5 returns in the new game, this time called Amigos. In addition to single-player, there will also be online multiplayer for two people. This most likely means that co-op will be returning in Far Cry 6.

According to the PSN page, Far Cry 6 will be released on February 18, 2021. An important detail in the PSN leak is the fact that players will be able to upgrade to the Playstation 5 version at no additional cost once it’s available. That wording makes it unclear whether or not Far Cry 6 will release on the same day, so we will have to wait for official confirmation from Ubisoft.

We can look forward to seeing Far Cry 6 during the Ubisoft Forward event this Sunday at 12PM PT/ 3PM ET.
