Fallout 76 B.E.T.A: Everything You Need to Know

The B.E.T.A (Break It Early Test Application) for Fallout 76 starts tomorrow, October 23, for Xbox One users. Today, Bethesda has released the times players will be able to download and play the game. Here everything you need to know about its release in your timezone, along with other important tips to get you started in Appalachia.

Pre-order:

The B.E.T.A is only open to those who have pre-ordered Fallout 76, and it’s not too late to purchase. To participate in the B.E.T.A, you will have to pre-order the game digitally on Xbox One, or physically from a participating retailer. Console players who’ve pre-ordered it will automatically have access to the B.E.T.A. once it launches. Those who have physically pre-ordered the game will have received a code on their physical/digital receipt, which they can redeem. The code on the receipt is not your B.E.T.A code. To redeem your code on the receipt, follow these steps:

  1. Create an account on Bethesda.net. For those who already have an account, simply log in.
  2. Once logged in, redeem the code that was printed on your receipt.
  3. Locate your B.E.T.A code on this account page
  4. Finally, redeem your B.E.T.A code on your console.

Time Zones:

Bethesda has stated in its FAQ regarding Fallout 76 that servers for the B.E.T.A will not be running 24/7, and will instead be online during specific timeframes, so the developers can get “as many people playing at the same time.” Doing so will push the servers to capacity, in order to see how they respond.

As such, players will be able to launch Fallout 76 during the following times.

  • U.S. Pacific 4pm – 8pm, Tuesday 23 October
  • U.S. Eastern: 7pm – 11pm, Tuesday 23 October
  • UK: 12 midnight – 4am, Wednesday 24 October
  • Australia (Sydney): 10am – 2pm Wednesday, 24 October

What to Expect:

Fans have been expressing their concern for Fallout 76 ever since it was confirmed the game was entirely online. Todd Howard admitted at Bethesda’s E3 conference, that while it’s uncharted waters for Fallout, the game will be something that we build together as a community. Keeping that in mind, the B.E.T.A is still a work-in-progress for the game, and according to Bethesda’s site, players will “likely see a glorious array of issues; many we know about, and many we don’t.”

B.E.T.A Progression:

Bethesda has stated your progress from the B.E.T.A will carry over into launch, but this is mostly in terms of leveling up, weapons, etc. That being said, trophies and achievements are not available during the B.E.T.A

A Quick Reminder:

Since Fallout 76 is entirely online, keep in mind that you will need a subscription to Xbox Live Gold to play the B.E.T.A, as well as the full game when it launches in November. Similarly, PlayStation 4 users will need a PlayStation Plus membership. Xbox Live Gold is $9.99/month and $59.99 for 12 months. Similarly, a PlayStation Plus membership is $9.99/month and $59.99 for 12 months.

PlayStation 4 and PC B.E.T.A  + Release Date:

The Fallout 76 B.E.T.A will launch on PS4 and PC on Tuesday, October 30th. The full game releases on November 14th for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
