English Dev Announces Alien Horror Game, The Peterson Case

For those of us going through withdrawal from the lack of horror games after The Evil Within 2The Peterson Case should offer a welcomed reprieve. English developer Quarter Circle Games recently announced the upcoming game, and the three and a half minute trailer is enough to make you sleep with a light on. The trailer below is reflective of actual gameplay.

The Peterson Case is a first-person horror game set after Roswell UFO event of 1947. Here is the official description of the game, courtesy of Quarter Circle Games:

The Peterson Case is an exciting horror game which will keep you on the edge of your seat- Play as Detective Franklin Renhardt as you explore a deserted house unraveling the spine-tingling tale of what has happened to its missing residents.

At first glance, this is a synopsis that sounds all-too familiar, if not slightly overdone. It was practically the foundation of Gone Home, minus the horror. When you watch the trailer, though, it couldn’t be more different. What makes The Peterson Case unique already, is the fact its narrative elements and horror is rooted in historical facts. As someone who didn’t know anything much about the Roswell UFO incident, the announcement of this game took me into a deep Wikipedia rabbit hole.

Needless to say, I’m fully intrigued by this game. The trailer is on the longer side to be an announcement, but it’s so effective at instilling fear and uncertainty in you right away. Quarter Circle Games looks to be taking everything that’s great about atmospheric horror games and putting its own mark on it.

Just based on the trailer, The Peterson Case looks like it supports lethal combat and stealth gameplay, as we see Detective Renhardt covering behind walls and brandishing a pistol in one scene and a knife in another.

The Peterson Case will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
